Happy Birthday, Quincy!

My baby boy is 4 years old today! Where does the time go? Happy Birthday, Buddy!
(The picture is from his 2nd birthday- I couldn't get a picture of him yet today because he hates mornings!)

Baseball, work and pets

I really liked talking about baseball. Too bad I don't really follow any other sports, otherwise I could make an all sports blog. Well, after the next few games I may have something else to say, but the Yankees are my pride and joy, so I probably won't have too much to comment on until Spring Training. Maybe that's why I dislike winter so much--no baseball.

Don't expect much from me this weekend because I'm working all weekend. Want to hear something stupid? I'm working Friday and Saturday 7a-7p. The new schedule started on Sunday. Usually when you're working your weekend, you work the same shift all weekend (i.e. 7a or 7p). Well, they have me working 7p-7a on Sunday! So I get to come home Saturday night, all cranky and grumpy and tired to go to bed. Then I wake up Sunday morning only to go back to bed since I have to work Sunday night. I can't sleep for like 18 hours straight! I don't think I'm going to be the fun brigade Sunday night. :-(

I think it's safe to say that Quincy likes kittens.

See any similarities from when Roxy was a kitten to now that Quincy has She-Ra?
But who wouldn't want to be friends with this girl?

All 3 of them hang out together, but do you know how hard it is to have 3 not so smart animals pose for a picture? This was the best I could get.

Not to say t hat Roxy doesn't value her alone time (in her most favorite toy- we were going to throw out this box, but we can't bring ourselves to do it because Roxy loves it so much!)

I could keep taking pictures of these guys forever (if you check out my computer you can see tha tI pretty much have been), but sometimes I just know that it's time to put the camera down (perhaps with some nudging from Quincy and his "no more pictures" face).

The fate of the Yankees...

So, after an awful post season (though not quite as bad as the Cubs, Angels or Phillies), the Yankees called an early "quits" to October.
I personally would have started Mussina last night, but what's done is done.
I am hoping for a world series between the Rockies and the Red Sox.
But my current worry is what's going to happen to the Yankees? Do you really think that Torre is out? I mean, George has threatened this before. And if Joe is out, I am not sure if Jorge (among others) will want to come back next year.
See, what I think that part of the problem with baseball is now is that there is not much team spirit. Like after the Sox won the Series, Damon went to the Yankees for more $$.
But I do feel that there is some team spirit with some of the Yankees. You know, the guys who have been there forever. Guys who have been lead by Torre for years, like Posada, Jeter, Rivera, Pettite (Ok- he's been to other teams in the meean time but that was so that he could be close to his family)... ok that's it that's left on the team. But I remember the feeling when the Yankee lineup included guys like Bernie Williams (love), Tino Martinez, Paul O'Neil (he always got SO upset if he didn't get a good hit). I think that baseball shouldn't make all its decisions based on money. I know it's a business, but it's a game. Keep teams together, bring in new guys once in a while, but don't change the bulk of your team every season.
Mr. Steinbrenner, if you're reading this, listen to me! Don't get rid of Joe- give him another year. And do WHATEVER it takes to keep Posada! You finally have some good pitching (what were you thinking for a few years there with poor pitchers? Pitching makes the game!) with Mussina, Pettite, Wang, and the newbie Phil Hughes. I'm not sure yet if I want to see Joba as a Starting Pitcher or if he should stay as a reliever and become a Closer when Mariano retires. Keep Mientkiewicz as 1st base. He is pretty good offensively, and he is AMAZING defensively! For 2nd base, I see Cano. Keep Jeter as SS. As for 3rd base, yes A-Rod was awesome in the regular season, but with all the money he costs, you could get other players who will be able to get the job done. In the outfield, I like Hideki, Melky, and Abreu. You can keep Damon or Giambi as DH, but I'm not in love with either of them. There you have it... my dream for the Yankees 2008 lineup.

More Baseball...

This is just going to be a quick post about baseball. I had my choices for my ideal World Series, but my hopes are crashing. For the National League, I wanted either the Cubs (because I just like them for some reason- never been to Wrigley Field- never even seen the Cubs play- I just like them) or the Rockies (again, for no particular reason- just like 'em). It looks like my hopes and dreams for the Cubs have faded, but my NL aspirations are resting solidly on the Rockie's shoulders. As for the American League, my eggs are all in the Yankees basket. But- if the Yankees don't make it, I want the Red Sox to go all the way. There are a few reasons for that: 1. I live in Boston, 2. I really HATE the Indians and the Angels, 3. As much as I hate to admit this (living and breathing Yankees my whole life), but the Red Sox are a pretty decent team. That's all the praise the Red Sox are going to get from me now. Let's hope that the electricity comes back to Denver so the Rockies can get their game rolling towards a Colorado win!

Skeletons, Crochet, and Baseball

My skeletons were glowing to beat the band, but all the pictures of them came out black! So I'm sorry to say that there is no pictures of my glowing skeletons- which sucks because they look really cool!

Anyway, does anyone know how to crochet? Or maybe know someone who knows how to crochet? I am trying to teach myself, but I'm stuck and need someone to help.

Also, I want to take some time to talk about the Yankees. I know that I currently live in Boston, but I'm a New Yorker- born and bred. So my loyalty goes to the boys in pinstripes. Let's just hope that once they are back in their pinstripes (i.e. playing at Yankee Stadium), they will get their acts together. Come on, boys! It's October! Don't get me wrong- Petitte was awesome! And I totally appreciate Melky's home run. This is definitely not the time to load the bases in the bottom of the 11th inning (Vizcaino- I'm talking to YOU). I suppose that one could assume that much of my anger would be directed at Joba- since the tying run scored when he was pitching, but I have a not-so-secret about him.

I love him! He is my favorite Yankee! I used to feel this way about Bernie Williams- and I still do. Believe me- I am big supporter of the idea that they never should have let Bernie go- keep him around for 1 more year- he was a key clutch player! But Bernie's off enjoying retirement, and now Joba has come to fill the void in my heart. And as for letting the tying run score- I personally blame that swarm of bugs! Their invasion peaked while Joba was pitching in the bottom of the 8th. You want to know what Joba is really all about? You should have seen him in the 7th. Here's to hoping that they relax today, head home ready to kick some Indian butt tomorrow!

I'm back...

I've been gone for a while. I was busy. Work. But now I'm off until next Wednesday. What have I been up to? I've been working really hard to finish my Eeyore cross stitch. I'm very proud of it. Do you like it?

I also have decorated my house for Halloween. I may have went a little overboard, but the Halloween Fairy helped. In fact, she left some candy today! Check out the fruits of our labor.
I have ghosts and pumpkins hanging from every door way.

I have a 5 foot tall glow-in-the-dark skeleton hanging on the bedroom door...

and a 3 foot glow-in-the-dark skeleton on the front door.

There are Halloween stickers EVERYWHERE!

I like this monster sticker and my wooden pumpkin sign.

I have a bunch of witches.

and a Halloween banner.

I've also been busy playing with the animals. They are keeping me busy, but I love them so much! They do spend a lot of time relaxing...

She-Ra's favorite spot to nap is behind the couch.

Roxy and She-Ra spend much of the day playing. This is how it started this afternoon.
Roxy was relaxing in a box (one of her favorite spots to nap)
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
then She-Ra walks over
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
She-Ra and Roxy greet each other
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
then She-Ra starts to pester Roxy
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
and keeps pestering
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
and doesn't take "no" for an answer
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
so Roxy says, "Screw this!" and leaves the box, but She-Ra follows and the wrestling starts
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
and continues for several minutes
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
until they're both tired and ready to nap again. But Roxy keeps her eye on She-Ra for a while- she's not ready to relax quite yet
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
until She-Ra lays down again.

I tried to take a picture of Quincy and I, but it didn't work very well. Quincy doesn't look at the camera unless I'm behind it talking to him.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
So he posed for another solo shot.

I'll get some pictures of my skeletons tonight when they're glowing and I'll post them tomorrow. We plan to meet my cousin tomorrow and go to a beer tasting at Harpoon's Boston brewery. Yum! I love Harpoon- especially UFO. Extra especially Raspberry UFO! :-)

Oh my god... It's almost 4 o'clock!

I have been working all day... decorating for Halloween and finishing up my Eeyore cross stitch when I look at the clock and see the time. I have to pick Andrew up at 5 to head down to Hull for dinner with some friends. I still haven't taken a shower yet(I am thoroughly enjoying the start of my 6 days off from work), so I don't have enough time to make a proper blog post. Check back Friday for pictures of Eeyore and Halloween decorations (and I'm sure some pictures of the pets).
